Felicitating Soumitra da

Tuesday, April 17, 2012: Yesterday evening Harsh Neotia and I hosted a felicitation-cum-dinner reception for Soumitra Chatterjee on being awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award and other National Award Winners like Anjan Dutt (Special Jury Award, Ranjana Aami Aar Ashbo Na), Rana Sarkar (Producer, Ranjana Aami Aar Ashbo Na, Best Bengali Film), Neel Dutta (Best Music Director, Ranjana Aami Ashbo Na), Mayook Bhaumik (Best Background Score, Laptop), Roopa Ganguly (Best female playback singer, Abasheshey) and Indranil Ghosh (Best production design, Noukadubi).

In fact, I was lucky that all of them were available on the same day which is normally very difficult.

The dinner was organized at the Club Verde Vista located in the Upohar complex. It was my third visit to this complex. The first visit was when Harsh took around the place, the second time was when I did a cameo in Tony’s film Aparajita Tumi that was shot in that complex.

Although the weather was a little humid, the guests still enjoyed the bar setup on the lawns.

Soumitra da was overwhelmed and was thanking me and Harsh for the felicitation. but I think we must all thank Soumitra Chatterjee for giving us this honor especially when we are celebrating 100 years of cinema.
